Shoes and Socks

Shoes and socks,
And socks and shoes.
On your feet,
Always in twos.

Pairs of socks and pairs of shoes.
Some are old and some brand new.

To play in, to work in,
To jump in and run.
To protect us from splinters, nails, and the sun.

Velcro or buckles or tied up tight laces,
We keep them on snug for our wild goose chases.

Sometimes they're stinky,
And sometimes they're not,
Stinky or clean,
They're all that I've got.

And when they get holey and so badly scuffed,
They're kaput!

But I'm happy go lucky,
Cause now I'm BAREFOOT!
