Standard: DASL (WebDAV Searching and Locating)

Description: The objective of DASL is to provide a technical protocol for searching and locating documents created and edited via the Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) standard.

Relationship to Records Management: Access is of the essence of effective records management, regardless of the means by which the records themselves are created and processed. Effective means of searching and retrieving records is of the essence of efficient access.

Problems/Issues/Weaknesses: WebDAV was not envisioned to be a fully featured standard for document/records management, and metadata required for records management purposes may or may not be available for query and use via DASL.
